Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 2:43 PM MDT on August 27, 2008

... Red flag warning remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this
evening...

A red flag warning remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening.

West winds have increased in the higher elevations across the
area this afternoon to 20 to 25 mph with gusts of 30 to 40 mph. A few
gusts up to 50 mph have been observed. The lower elevations will
see their increasing winds later this afternoon and evening. Relative
humidity values will remain in the upper single digits to lower
teens through the evening hours. This combination of wind and low
humidity will result in extreme fire weather conditions. A cold
front will move in during the late evening time frame shifting the
wind to the northwest to north.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. Critically dry
fuels... combined with strong winds... low relative humidity... and
warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.
